Biography

Marla is a performing arts educator, Primary Montessori teacher and York University Honors graduate of Theatre. She is a Red Cross Instructor, Level 3 Occupational First Aid Attendant, Level 1 Occupational First Aid Instructor and a Lifeguard. Marla is also a children's author as well as a professional musician and puppeteer for kids.

First aid is a passion for Marla and she believes everyone in Canada should know what to do in an emergency situation. Upholding the values of the Red Cross, Marla now brings Red Cross First Aid courses to the workplace, community and schools.

After touring Canada with her interactive show about emotional intelligence for children, she decided to bring both the arts and first aid together. With a focus on socially aware and responsible programming, Marla believes every person can be a First Aid Hero!

She has also studied with puppeteers trained by Muppet creator Jim Henson, and with Giuseppe Condello, a prodigy of Marcel Marceau. As a musician, actor, puppeteer, dancer, director, choreographer, she has produced and performed a variety of educational arts based programs for children.

Performances with the EMOTIONS Puppet Show & Concert include Montessori Schools, Public Schools, Branches of Canadian Public Libraries, Canadian National Parks, The World Peace Forum and The International Children's Festival.
