First Aid Content

  • Check, Call, Care (includes phoning EMS/911)
  • Glove removal
  • Recovery position
  • Conscious choking (adult/child/baby/alone)
  • CPR (baby/child), illness, asthma (includes use of inhaler and spacer), anaphylaxis (includes use of EpiPen), poisoning, insect stings, wound care (i.e. minor cuts and scrapes, splinters, nosebleeds, bumps and bruises, life-threatening bleeding, burns), head, neck and back injuries, broken bones, seizures

FAQ

To become a Red Cross certified babysitter in BC, you can take a babysitting course offered by ProSafe Training. Our course covers topics such as child care basics, safety, first aid, and emergency procedures. Upon completion of the course, you will receive a certificate indicating that you have been trained as a babysitter
In BC, there is no specific license required to babysit. However, it is recommended that babysitters take a certified babysitting course to ensure they have the skills and knowledge to provide safe and responsible care for children.
The age requirements for taking a babysitting course in BC can vary depending on the organization offering the course. For example, the Canadian Red Cross babysitting course given by ProSafe is typically open to children aged 11 to 15.
